TK version 2

After the first intail test of the new TK, I have decided to switch the list up some. Drop the archers, shrink the chariots but improve steam rolling power, more magic, and keep the Warsphinx. Onto the list for 2500.

Lords:

LHP lvl 4 5+ward channeling staff

TK-GW, shield, Armor of Fortune, Dragonbane Gem, and Death Mask (no gen ld and no bsb within 6", oh and causes terror)

Heroes:

TP Spear charmed shield Chariot (time bomb with T5)

Core: 8 horse archers (placements fillers or use for WM hunting via scouting)

6 chariots for TP escort - deployed 3x2 with extra in rear

2 units of 40 skeleton warriors full cmd (grind out units)

specials:

Warsphinx with breath upgrade

3 carrion (love these guys)

29 TG full cmd banner of undying legion Halberds (TK goes here)

Rare:

Casket (gots to have another ticking time bomb)

1 Catapult(hoping the crew get some training from my empire army)

ends up at 2499 points. A whole bunch of less shooty but more hand to hand. Suggestions, Likey? No Likey? this is the last chance for a pricey chariot unit to try out before testing other units such as ushabti and Heirotitan.

Thoughts About Our Last Game

Was thinking about our latest game. K was at a disadvantage to begin with. I have been working on ironing out the wrinkles in my high elf list for months. I have been playing against the Empire a lot lately and just getting crushed. I have tried everything against the empire. Even a mostly Cav list. I just kept getting dominated. I think the empire is just a bad March up for the high elves. K murders my infantry and Cav with his war machines(1 cannon, 1 mortar, 1 rocket battery) he shuts down my magic with his 3 extra dispelled dice. I was very happy to fight the tomb kings and with my list.

Now as for the game. I think The warsphinx is going to be great. Not all armies have a cannon they can just knock it down with. In fact, it looks right now, the best answer for the high elves to deal with it, is to avoid it, and let archers shoot at it for a few rounds. 2 units of 12 Archers would deal 2 wounds before the save. 2-3 rounds of shooting would leave it almost dead.

K Chariots would of done almost double the wounds they did, had my spearmen not had +4 toughness. I think with the right set up they can be fielded in numbers from 3-6, but much larger, i think they will just be a point sink. It's not like you can do point denial with them, granted, Always Strike First hurt them badly!

The Tomb King Archers and Cats didn't really do anything the whole game. I think the Cats will be ok, they just scattered badly in this first game. The Archers on the other hand just don't seem to be really worth anything. Almost always hitting on a 5 is great, until you think about most archers, in most cases, will hit on a 5. Is it really that big of a deal? They can't even stand and shoot and with my high elf infantry having an average charge range of 12, that hurts a lot.

Well that's all for now, more thoughts to come.

High Elves vs Tomb Kings 5-16-11

Army List: 2500
Lord: 350
Arch Mage, LVL 4, Life, Reaver Bow, Silver Wand, Ring of Fury

Heros: 349
Noble, BSB, GW, Armor of Caledor, Guardian Phoenix
Noble, GW, Shield, GE, Helm of Fortune, Ironcurse Icon

Core: 630
Spearmen. Full Cmd, Banner of Swiftness
15 Archers, (AM)
10 Archers

Special: 1071
24 Phoenix Guard, Full Cmd, Banner of Sorcery (BSB)
25 White Lions, Full Cmd, Potion of Foolhardiness, Gleaming Pendant
14 Sword Masters, Musician

Rare: 100
2 Great Eagles

We went with an empty table because we were really limited in time. We both deployed with only a small amount of thought going into it. From memory I deployed (left to right) Swordmasters, 10 Archers, Noble GE and GE behind Archers, Phoenix Guard(BSB), Spearmen, 15 Archers(AM), White Lions on the far right flank. K deployed (left to right) Horse Archers, Warsphinx behind HA, Huge Block of Archers, Block of Warriors, unit of 9 Chariots, Carrion, more HA, his Tomb Guard were across from my White Lions OUCH! In the back he had a Cat in one corner, in the other he had a Cat and Casket.

To start the game off, I screwed up with my Eagles. For some reason I kept thinking they get a vanguard move. Well they don't. It really didn't have an effect on the outcome of the game other then making me feel dumb. K vanguarded with his Carrion, and both HA. I got first turn for the first time in about 1.8 million games. Well, maybe like 8 games, but it has been a few months since I went first.
1st turn:

Movement:
I charged the SM in to the HA.
Moved my Noble up behind the SM.
Moved my Eagle as far as I could to threaten his High Liche Priest.
PG forward 10 inches.
SM forward 12 inches
WL forward 8-10 inches

Magic:
The winds were kind, and I believe I rolled around 9 , then got another 2 or 3 from the banner. I cast Thrown of Vines and Flesh to Stone on the Spearmen, then K dispelled Dwellers on his Chariots.

Shooting:
10 Archers didn't do much.
15 Archers killed 1 Carrion and my Mage killed another.

Combat:
The SM made short work of the HA and overran like 4 inches.

Tomb Kings turn 1:

Movement:
Failed charge with Sphinx at the SM
Liche moved into Warriors
Chariot and Carrion charge Spearmen
HA move around White Lions on my right.

Magic:
I don't remember what K rolled, but I think he had 11 dice to my 5 or 6. I dispelled his bound spell from his Caskets and something else. He got -1 strength and toughness on my Spearmen.

Shooting:
1 Cat kills 1 Swordmaster
Other Cat kills a few Archers from the unit of 15 now 11.
40 Archers kill.....1 PG I really felt bad for K. 30 shots, I think like 8 or 9 hit, then 6 wounded. I roll 6 dice for the 5+ and get... 4 6's, then I save one more with the ward.

Combat:
Chariots killed 6 with just impact hits, Spearmen kill 1 Chariot, then the Carrion and Chariot kill another 4. Steadfast Spearmen hold with BSB reroll.

Turn 2:

Movement:
Not thinking about the Sphinx being toughness 8, I charged my SM into it. UGH! Somedays I wonder what is going on in my head. I mean, seriously. No clue why I did this.
Flank charged with PG into the side of the Chariots. Made it.
Charged the Tomb Gard with my WL. Needed a 7 with 2 dice. Failed and moved forward 2 inches. Failed charge with Noble against Archer unit.
Eagles each move towards a Cat.

Magic:
Another high winds and banner. I believe it was around 10. Cast Shield of Thorns on the Spearmen. Shield of Thorns ends up killing single Carrion. It also kills 2 Chariots. My attempt to cast Dwellers on his Warrior unit was dispelled.

Shooting:
10 Archers kill a few Archers.
15 Archers and Mage kill about 3 HA.

Combat:
Phoenix Guard and Spearmen kill all but 1 Chariot and I lose 5 Spearmen in the process.
SM deal 2 wounds to Sphinx. In return, the Sphinx obliterates them all. Then, the Sphinx overruns into Noble on Eagle.

Tomb Kings Turn 2

Movement:
Archers rear charge PG.
Tomb Guard attempt to charge White Lions, needing onlya 5 and end up rolling a 4. Failing to charge, they move forward 2 inches.

Magic:
Average winds of magic. I dispelled K's attempt to use the Casket's bound spell. Now that I'm out of dice, K cast Regen on the Warriors, Archers, and Chariots. Archers go to full strength while the Chariots gain an extra Chariot.

Shooting:
One Cat blows up and the 2nd Cat scatters.

Combat:
Spearmen and Phoenix Guard kill 2 Chariots. Spearmen reform to face the Archers. Phoenix Guard kills 4 Archers and the Archers kill 3 Phoenix Guard in return. Phoenix Guard combat reforms to face Archers.
Noble and Eagle inflict 1 more wound on the Sphinx. Sphinx kills Noble and the Eagle flees a long distance, causing the Sphinx to come up short on it's pursuit.

High Elves Turn 3

Movement:
The White Lions charge and reach the Tomb Guard. Finally somebody puts the pillows down.
The Eagle who lost it's Noble rallies.
The Eagle closest to the Cat charges.
The Eagle closest to the Casket charges.

Magic:
High winds of magic again around 11. I cast Dwellers on the Warriors unit, causing half to disappear.

Shooting:
10 Archers put a wound on the Sphinx, leaving it with 1 wound remaining.
15 Archers finally finish off HA.

Combat:
White Lions deal 6 wounds to the Tomb Guard, while receiving around 8 in return. White Lions lose combat, fail their stubborn leadership test, and flee.
Phoenix Guard does around 25 wounds to Archers, cauing the Archers to lose combat. In theend, a lot more Archers crumbled, leaving only 5.
The 1 Eagle takes out a Cat.
The other Eagle deals 1 wound to the Casket and then is killed for its effort.

K regretfully concedes/ we run out of time.

Popped the Cherry on the 8th Ed. Tomb Kings!

Well, it was a dried out cherry with a resemblance of a dried up blood booger. Arnie and I got our first game in since we are 98% done with the New A/C install. (side note: Thanks D for ALL the help!) High Elves vs Tomb Kings was the matchup. Standard Pitched Battle with open board was the easiest and quickest setup due to limited time. After much playtesting and list building Arnie finished his list for the lofty elves. Derived of his model inventory and several play test builds his list proved to be very solid against the dusty TK.

The first list was compiled after reading the new Tomb Kings book and from an inventory of TK models. (and 10 mins at a break at work) The list has some new and retooled units to explore the new book. Can the Warsphinx deliver damage to infantry? Will the Warsphinx get shot to death before reaching combat? What is the new magic lore like and is it effective? Those were some the questions sprinting through my mind. Next up the list:
2500 point army

Liche High Priest lvl 4, 4+ Ward, Tomb Scroll thingy 25 pointer(pwr lvl3 get rid of RiP spell on 2+ get D3 PD)

Tomb Prince GW shield armor of fortune(HA, 5+ Ward) Dragonbane Gem(2+ Ward against fire) goes in tomb guard

Core:
40 skellies shield full cmd

40 archers full cmd

9 chariots plain

2 units of 5 archer cav

Special:
31 Tomb Guard full cmd

Warsphinx with breath attack

3 carrion

Rare:
2 Screaming Skull Catapult

1 Casket of Souls!

The Next post I will explain what I found out with the dusty Tomb Kings. I went character light to test the effectiveness of more troops and variety over herohammer. Please comment below on criticism and list build. Also what has your experience been with or against the new TK book?

WOW

It has been a long time since K or I posted anything on here. WE are all but done with his new A/C system. We have been talking about getting a game in soon. We are getting to the point of trying to figure out who gets the first crack at the Tomb Kings. AI am really looking forward to playing something other then Empire. I have yet to find a good way as the High Elves to beat the Empire. So far what I have seen out of the 2 new books, I really like the direction GW is going. Well that's all for now, more up dates to come.

Back and Forth

I have been jumping around lately, and it's more then likely been hurting me. I love playing different Races case they can be so different but I think it has held me back. Trying to stick with just 2 to keep jumping back and forth to. I have been really happy with the progress of the Beastmen to keep wanting to push on with them. I don't want to give up on the High Elves just yet. Between K and I, we have come up with a few new twists with them. Almost everywhere I read people keep saying you need the "Book" or Telics to win. I hate this!! I think both are cheese and I refuse to use cheese. K and I kept looking at different things we have done with the HE and keep come back to a few things. 1) The Core Sucks!!! Plain and simple. Make the best of it. Right now I am running a unit of around 35 Spearmen with Full Cmd. Two units of Archers, 12 and 14. 2) Phoenix Guard are great. Now I know that is not a surprise but they are one of the few things that have never changed in my army. 3) There are only a few armies that can truly excel while using Cav, and I think High Elves are one of them. While I may prefer Infantry, I still like to win. All infantry is a sure way to get yourself frustrated.

With all that, my army has change a good bit since first playing 8th.
Lord, GW, 2+(Re-role-able)4+ Ward, Barded Warhorse, Crown of Command
Archmage, Lvl 4, x-spell, 4+ Ward
BSB, GW, 2+(Re-role-able)

35 Spearmen Full Cmd
14 Archers
12 Archers

24 Phoenix Guard, Full Cmd, Banner of Sorcery

Here is where things get interesting.
13 Dragon Princes, Musician, Champ w/ Unit gaining Magical Attacks
15 Swordmasters
or
13 Dragon Princes
15 White Lions full Cmd

Not sure what to do with the last bit.

Beast

Well it has been a while since either of us have updated. The main reason for the is the installation of K's new HVAC system. I decided to take the few minutes I have here to do a quick up date to let everyone know i got stomped by K's Dino's. My Beastmen had been having ok games vs his Empire, so I guess it was a good test. It has really brought around some changes to my army. No longer do I feel safe trying to hide my 4 low level shamans alone. they are now accompanied with 10 Raiders. I dropped the level 3 infavor for another killy Lord. Other then that not much has changed.

Beastmen List

BeastLord: XHW, Armor of Fortune 5+,5+
49 Bestigors Full CMD: Gleaming Pendant

Wargor: BSB, HA, Shield, Ramhorn Helm, Talisman of Endurance, 3+,5+
49 Gors: Full CMD

2 Tuskgor Chariots

10 Ungor Raiders

15 Gors: M

Bray-Shaman: Herdstone, Lvl 2, Beast
Bray-Shaman: Lvl 2, Beast
Bray-Shaman: Lvl1, Shadow

Great Bray-Shaman:, Lvl3, Wild, Brass Cleaver, Jagged Dagger, Crown of Command, Gnarled Hide, Razigor Chariot, 4+

Beastmen Vs Empire

The aftermath of my first game with The Beastmen in a few weeks left me very happy. I was running 40Gors with a BSB, A Lvl3 on a scouted Razigor Chariot, and a lord with 40 Bestigors as the base of my army. Against Ks Empire that had a Mortar, Rocket Battery, and a Cannon for his artillery. He then had around 10 Out riders, 12 or so x-bowmen, and 20 Handgunners. Needless to say he had ALOT of shots. Through the first 2 turns he did like 4 wounds with his artillery, but did like 25 or so with his small arms. I was happy with this because while his artillery under achieved his small arms over achieved. My Large Gor unit got unit combat at about 75% Strength and ran through his Great Swords thx to Wild Reform. My Bestigors, who got into combat at about 25% got crushed Badly. My Lvl3 went toe to toe with about 30 Flagellants and in the end broke about even. At the end of this Battle I think i want to drop the scouting on the Lvl3. With the Larger armies it's so hard to get him to to a good place with scouting. I also think I need to expand this size of my 2 main killy units. I think 50 with each. 3 Low Lvl Shamans with a herd stone is great.

Beast Ideas

As I stated I am going to dust off my Beastmen, and try to smack the empire around a bit. One of the build ideas has my Killer Chariot teamed with a unit of Gors Lead by a WarGor Giving them +1 Strength and a unit of Bestigors with a Lvl 4 in it. @ chariots and small unit of Minotaurs round out the army. The other idea is to take the Lord and put him on foot with the Cleaver and a 2+ AS in the unit of Bestigors. With this set up I want to put a LvL 2 in a Razorgor Chariot that can scout. My last idea is to put the Lord in with the Gors and put 2 Gorebulls in a big unit of UnGors(40+2 Gorebulls) with +1 Strength. I would still bring the Bestigors With the LvL 4. The only units that i know i am going to use is 40 Gors and 40 Bestigors.

GW NEWS...Dust off your Tomb Kings soon.

Hello and with excitement and much anticipation I present to You....Incoming: Tomb Kings! (Insert Angelic Singing)

Early Feb GW revealed the new Orcs and Goblins range of miniatures and Army Book. They are Due out for release in March. Wow that giant Spidey looks huge and awesome, is my intial impression. After contemplating the impact of a Monster of a monster base size, 100x150, Arnie and I asked ourselves a question. Where are they taking this? You can't tell us the GW has decided to just design a new base size and only use it for one single new monster. Bologna! There is more than meets the eye, there has to. Some new and big is on the Horizon for the Tomb Kings. I can feel it. "But what could it be?", You may ask. Well here is a very, very preliminary educated guess: Tomb Kings Sphinx. Yes Bold and wildly unpredictable but a possibility. Let me explain.

Monday Feb 14: 9:22 AM I recieved an email from GW about the news of Tomb Kings.

9:23 AM Arnie recieved a phone call from me with excitement about the release.

10 AM End of discussion and result was what could they do new for TK. result: new monster.

10:28 AM Arnie proposes the fact that GW wouldn't make a new monster base without utilizing it for other new models.

9PM Pondering and working I decided to delve into the TK army book and search the interwebz for ideas.

9:26PM Found this Sphinx model on GW's Warmaster Undead page. It looks TKish and would fit with the army fluff very easily.

Could this be an idea of what one of the new releases be for TK? Maybe, but we will have to wait for the rumor mill and hopefully some leaked pics to confirm this possibility. Until next time thanks for reading and more updates are on the way. Oh yeah we are both excited for Orcs and Goblins but we are more excited for Tomb Kings.

We have a large Tomb Kings army that has been collecting dust since purchasing them in 2009. Largely unplayable in 8th Edition we hope these great models and army theme will hit the tabletop with at least a playable competitive spirit. Thats nothing against Orcs and Goblins but they had a better chance on the tabletop than the TK who usually got tabled. Thought below, PLEASE, Im desperate for feedback.

High Elf Retreat

After the last few games we played I am struggling to want to field my high elf army. I have been looking at my Dark Elf and Beastmen armies and debating what to do. I have come to think that the High Elf have the Worst Core in Warhammer(Not Counting Tomb Kings). With High Elves Armies being about Infantry it's hard to get a well rounded army. So I guess for now I will let them rest and bust out the Beastmen.

Aftermath

Last Night we got our game in for the week. Arnie's HE shooty list against my empire list. The empire won but only do to some unfortunate dice rolls of the HE. This was the first game I used a helstorm rocket battery in 8th edition and it outperformed its point cost. It is an adjustment using its own inaccurate rules but utilizing the engineer helped the output of all of the artillery. I even got to use the pigeon bombs 2 times from the engineer. Both times the bird exploded dead on target, what a surprise it was for me. I always expect the worst from charts that can back fire on my own troops. In result of the performance of the new artillery battery(cannon, mortar, helstorm, and engineer) I give it a B. One reason for the B rating; the mortar didnt kill anything.

Onto my try out of Fire magic on a lvl 4 with ruby ring(fireball). After being refreshed that you fail to cast on less than a 3 made Fire pointless. So if I failed to cast a fireball lvl1 with a single dice of 2 or 1 end of casting spells. To avoid this you have to throw 2 dice at 1d6 or the 2d6 S4 hits fireball. My strat was to throw a single dice at the bound item and one at basic fireball spell. then use the rest of the dice on other fire spells. I did roll under average every magic phase except the last but my mage was in combat by then. I walked away decided that it is better to take any other magic lore since most use 2 dice to cast most spells anyhow with greater results.(i.e. wildform, miasma, earthblood) Grade on fire magic: C-. Average in an above average world of magic devastation.

Overall the changes to the empire was good besides the lore. Changing Lores is the easiest thing to change in an army cause it doesnt cost any money. I believe the core build of this army is set now to finish building the models.

Goals for this week in modelling is to assemble the rest of the swordsmen (18) and outriders (5). Plus i want to research on making our own custom movement trays. Any ideas or what you do plus let me know in the comments. thanks for taking the time to read and let us know if there anything we can do to make it more interesting or topics to discuss!

A steady start for 2011

Updating my goals for the year, I can say things are goin well so far. I bought a box of outriders, helrocket, empire wizard kit, Imperial Confessor for a Warrior Priest, and a HE griffin to possibly convert a new empire griffin general. I currently have a karl franz griffin model and also the empire general on griffin. I just love the look of the new griffin, frick'n sick nasty. Besides buying stuff, which is the easiest part of the goal list, I have managed to assemble some models. 40 Halbidiers, Wizard, 27 Saurus Warriors, Helstorm Rocket, and some odds and ends is what I have managed to build. Next up 18 Empire Swordsmen, 5 Outriders, and hopefully some green stuff projects.

I am still tweaking my Empire Army to include an engineer in a artillery battery of Great Cannon, Mortar, and a Helstorm Rocket Battery. I have been getting more confident with the empire but they are still heavily reliant on the BSB and General Leadership Bubble. Utilizing the Large Target 18" General on Griffin Leadership helps keep the 9 Ld across the army. I am dropping a cannon form the old list to add the engineer and swap out a mortar to get the helstorm rocket. I am curious to see what difference will make in the list. It will reduce a cannon ball per shooting phase for a re-roll and improve a pie plate to Strength 5. I am also putting my lvl 4 wizard into the swordsmen unit with the BSB to help protect the wizard. I am not sure if this a good idea or bad, yet. Miscasting could hurt the unit, though its intent is a bunker for the BSB. I moved the Warrior Priest out of the Swordsmen and into the Greatswords to help combat efficiency. Re-Rolls for the S5 hits should help the non-elites get some extra kills. Any comments or tip or changes with explanations would greatly appreciated.

2500 Empire Army
Lords:
General on Griffon with Sword of Sig (+1 S and ASF) Full Plate, Shield, Ironcurse Icon (6+ ward against warmachines)
Lvl 4 Wizard - Ruby Ring (I am trying Fire for the first time for the next game)

Heroes:
Captain BSB Armor of Meteoric Iron (1+ AS) Luckstone (re-roll a single AS)
Warrior Priest - HA, shield in Halbidiers unit
Warrior Priest - HA, shield in Greatswords unit
Engineer - pigeon bombs(given them a try)

Core
39 Halbidiers full cmd - WP
38 Swordsmen full cmd - BSB and wizard
24 Flagellants

Specials
29 Greatswords full cmd Gleaming Penant (Re-roll 1st failed Ld test) - WP
10 Outriders
Great Cannon
Mortar

Rare
Helstorm Rocket battery

total 2500 on the button

I will give an update on the battle against the shooty elves once the blood bath has taken place. Hopefully my changes will show a direct good or bad to make any other decisions easier.

Ouch

Ouch, say it all. K just showed my High Elves the door last night. I went in with very high hopes, only to end up running away with my tail between my legs. The game started out great. K went first and killed 3 Knights, a bolt thrower, and a few archers. I was very happy with that out come considering his army. 2 cannons, 2 mortars and 12 outriders. Then everything went down hill fast. At one point, I think I had 10 Power dice and rolled 6 ones on them. Almost 50 archer shots yielded I think 1 wound. I watch my Knights need to roll a 5 or better for a charge to roll a 3. K over ran a unit he killed with halbreds 10 inches to crash into the flank of my Pheonix guard. That just a hand full of problems I had last night. The good side of things, is that i adjusted my list a little more. I removed the lord and his cav unit from my list. I also dropped the Shadow Warriors. In their place I add a Unit of 19 White Lions with a Hero for a General. I also added 5 Reavers and a Hero on an Eagle.

busy week update

Sorry for the lack of updates recently! Well a very busy week is winding down to a big even busier weekend. My son's 3rd bday and my 29th was all packed into this past week and tomorrow is the epic finale. The first round with Chuck E. Cheese for my son's 3rd bday party is with 3 other toddlers. Ibuprofen and earplugs are packed and ready for saturdays main event. I plan on working on building some models as i watch the playoff football games. I did manage to pick up a warrior priest and some outriders from ebay about week ago.

In other news the new FAQ for WHFB is updated once again. After quickly skimming through the pdf, arnie and I discussed some of the changes and played some Black Ops. No game was played this week due to the schedule. In some other news I took the time to sort and inventory all my lizardmen models. To my surprise, I believe most of the lizardmen are built. The some of the last ones need to be assembled using green stuff. I purchased some green stuff from warstore.com about a month ago getting it so i would have it when the time comes. I am currently starting to research how to use green stuff properly. Any tips, tricks, or links would be much appreciated.

I plan on some more posts next week as my schedule should resume to normal, finally. I picked up a can of krylon primer in black and white to prime some of the figs. I read from many different sources that krylon is a good alternative to the high priced hobby brands. Any feedback on the krylon primer is also appreciated and needed before trying it out. Thanks for taking the time to read and take the time to just enjoy the hobby's depth.

High Elves

After a few crazy weeks, I am back with a little more high Elf info. I now have 2 High Elf list that i like to run. Getting away from my dragon based army, I wanted to see what a shooting based army would do. Well, with the new rules i have to rethink using Sea Guard and spearmen so much.

Being able to attack in 2 ranks with the archers makes it less of a big deal that the Sea Guard has spears. The big difference now comes with the difference in armor save and range of bows. I am finding it to be a better idea to ditch spearmen all together and go with archers and the Guard. Most of the time my spearmen get butchered Point for Point. In that case I might as well just sit back with archers and shoot them. If i want a unit that can move forward, just take the Sea Guard.

The Pheonix Guard has become my second favorite unit in the high elf army. I just love having a unit of 30 of them sit there FOREVER. K talked me into a good size unit of them, and I think he regrets it everytime he faces them. They are under priced. To get a 4+ Ward save cost around 45 Points. I can make a Noble with a 4+ Ward and a 5+ armor save for 134 Points. That's a whole 2 wounds worth. Or for 1 more point i can get 6 Pheonix Guards with Full Command. Really makes me wonder why people go Charracter crazy.

With the shooting and magic army, i have now begun to use some cav to off set the lack of movement and to try and keep things out of charge range. Running a Lord with a Great weapon, Lvl 1, and 2+ re-role-able alongside a unit of 11 Silver Helms with Full Command.

This is a big change from what I was doing with the Dragon army, but it is growing on me!
